Sirkari Bhyol Rupsiabagar Hydroelectric Project

Sirkari Bhyol Rupsiabagar Hydroelectric Project located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand envisages utilization of the waters of the river Goriganga, a tributary of river Kali (Sarda) for power generation on a run of river scheme, harnessing a head of about 388.97 m. The project with a proposed installation of 210 MW (3 x 70 MW) is envisaged to generate an annual energy generation of 967.97 MU in a 90% dependable year.

Salient Features:

· Location - Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand

· River – Goriganga

· Capacity - 210 MW

· Concrete Gravity Dam - 103.0 m high

· Head Race Tunnel - 800.0 m, 4.5 m dia Horse shoe

· Pressure shaft - 1 Nos., 3.75 m dia, 580 m long trifurcated for 3 units

· Under ground Power House - size 16.5 m x 88 m

· Generator - 3 units of 70 MW each

· Vertical Francis Turbine - 3 Nos.

· Rated head - 388.97 m

· Annual Generation - 967.97 MU

· Project Cost - Rs. 899.63 crores on June, 2003 PL

· Year of Commissioning/Completion Schedule - March , 2024
