Sela Urthing HEP

Sela Urthing Hydro Electric Project

The Sela Urthing Hydroelectric Project is located in Pithoragarh district of Uttaranchal envisages utilization of the waters of the river Dhauliganga, a tributary of Kali (Sarda), for power generation on a run of river type development, harnessing a head of about 255.5 m. The project with a proposed installation of 230 MW (2 x 115 MW) is envisaged to generate an annual energy generation of 816.73 MU in a 90% dependable year.
 

Salient Features:

· Location - Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand

· River – Dhauliganga

· Capacity - 230 MW

· Concrete Gravity Dam - 73.0 m high

· Head Race Tunnel - 2.01 Km, 5.5 m dia horse shoe

· Surge shaft - 10.0 m dia of 70.4 m height

· Penstocks - 1 bifurcating to 2 nos, 4.8 m dia bifurcated & reduced to 3.4 m

· Surface Power House - size 20 m x 69 m

· Generator - 2 units of 115 MW each

· Vertical Francis Turbine - 2 Nos.

· Rated head - 255.5 m

· Annual Generation - 816.73 MU

· Project Cost - Rs. 696.73 crores

· Year of Commissioning/Completion Schedule - May, 2025
