Rishi Ganga-I Hydro Electric Project

Rishi Ganga-I Hydroelectric Project located in Chamoli district of Uttaranchal envisages utilization of the waters of the river Rishi Ganga, a tributary of Dhauliganga - Alaknanda for power generation on a run of the river type development, harnessing a head of about 536.17 m. The project with a proposed installation of 70 MW (2 x 35 MW) is envisaged to generate an annual energy generation of 317.99 MU in a 90% dependable year.
 

 Salient Features:

· Location - Chamoli, Uttarakhand

· River - Rishi Ganga

· Capacity - 70 MW

· Concrete gravity dam - 29.0 m high

· Head Race Tunnel - 3.31 Km, 2.5 m dia D-shaped

· Surge shaft - 6.0 m dia under ground of 47.0 m height

· Pressure shaft - 550.0 m long, 2.0 m dia

· Under ground Power House - size 55.0 m x 21.5 m x 30.0 m (H)

· Generator - 2 units of 35 MW each

· Turbine - 2 Nos. of Pelton

· Rated head - 536.17 m

· Annual Generation - 317.99 MU

· Project Cost -Rs. 277.01 crore on June, 2003 PL

* Project falls within Nanda Devi National Park,Stagi-I clearance could not obtained as chief wildlife warden has given unfarourable comments.
