Pala Maneri Hydro Electric Project

The proposed Pala Maneri Hydro Electric Project is essentially a run-of-river project with peaking pondage, utilizing the flows of Bhagirathi River to harness the head available between the proposed head works located near Pala village and reservoir of Maneri Bhali stage-1 in Uttarakahsi Dist, Uttarakhand. The Pala Maneri Hydro Electric Project forms a part of an overall development plan to harness the potential of the Bhagirathi River for hydroelectric generation in addition to various others projects. The project with a proposed installation of 480 MW (4 x 120 MW) is envisaged to generate an annual energy generation of 1993 MU in a 90% dependable year.

· Gravity Dam - 78.0 m high

· Head Race Tunnel - 12.5 Km, 7.2 m dia circular

· Surge shaft - 10 m dia (in upper chamber) of 170.0 m height

· Penstock - 4 Nos., 2.9 m dia, each of various length for each unit

· Power House D - shaped surface of size 100.0 m x 41m x21 m

· Generator
